The MIDAS prototype
Within the Mefisto Project and with
reference to the Aerodrome Case Study, ALENIA MARCONI SYSTEM (AMS) is developing
a prototype composed of two of Control Working Positions. The prototype named
MIDAS (Mefisto Interface
Development for Aerodrome
Systems) will allocate a ground
simulator (derived from the SEEDS Project) which will allow testing and
validating the Controller HCI. The latter represents the main output of the
Mefisto Project.
In this document a
preliminary description of the MIDAS prototype is reported. In particular HW and
SW configuration of the prototype, background and foreground modules are listed.
Description of the HCI design considered for the airport controller is also
outlined and continuous updates of the design will be taken into account as
result of the work in progress.
