The research department “Information Contextualization Icon” exists since spring 2000 and develops solutions for embedding information content and user interaction in the context of use. Two application fields are prominent in the current activities:

	personalised learning where people can flexibly explore learning environments supported by intelligent guidance and
	nomadic information systems where people with tasks distributed in time, space and social communities are supplied by personalised information selection and presentation.

Adaptable mechanisms based on tools for end-user development and adaptive mechanisms based on dynamic user models help people to perform their tasks.
