Telecom
Italia Lab is Telecom Italia's 100% owned company with the twin goals of
fostering innovation, and pinpointing and developing new business
opportunities. Telecom Italia
Lab SpA (shortly TILAB) was formed by a merger of the preceding Venture
Capital and Innovation business unit with wholly-owned Telecom Italia
subsidiary CSELT SpA.
The
principal areas of operation for this business unit are:
|
R&D
and Technology Integration, drawing upon the specific know-how of CSELT,
Telecom Italia's Research and Development Center; |
|
Incubator
operations targeted at seizing Internet start-up opportunities (through
Future Center, Technology Innovation Centers); |
|
Venture
Capital activities, broadening the existing portfolio through investments
in Italy, development of operations in the United States through the
set-up of a new fund with selected partners, while seeking fresh
opportunities in other nations; |
|
e-Learning,
fostering ICT professional training and development within and external to
the Group. |
Telecom
Italia Lab's broad portfolio spans the following services: consulting,
offering advanced specialization in high-growth business areas (i.e. the
Internet and Wireless); technology support, through the CSELT Research and
Development Center; marketing support, drawing upon technical innovation
services supplied by the Future Center for small and medium businesses, and
services from Consumer LAB; roll out support, based upon Technology Innovation
Centers (local-level centers in support of research and entrepreneurialism);
and go-to-Market support, leveraging the Telecom Italia Group's experience and
worldwide reach. TILAB’s corporate venture capital and incubation
activities address all phases of the development of new companies; by making
investments and offering business and technological consulting, TILAB creates
industrial synergies both with its internal R&D and with Telecom Italia
Group businesses.
TILAB
main interests in the network are in usability and acceptability of services,
with particular attention to Internet and mobile services.
